Should the government remove obese children from their homes?

Harvard Researchers Want Fat Kids Taken from Their Homes

The simple answer is no. If the government is worried about the health and well being of obese children, then help the family as a whole. More than likely the parents are obese as well. Stress is a major cause of weight gain. Now imagine obese children around the country being removed from their homes, and see what type of epidemic occurs. That may cause more harm emotionally, physically, and psychologically, than just helping the whole family unit. My children are naturally slender, but I have repeatedly had doctors ask me do I feed my children enough food. What happens if they think I'm lying, when I tell them that my children eat like horses? Anyone who has seen my kids eat can testify to that! Will they call the state to have my healthy, happy children removed because they think they are too skinny? If Mrs. Obama can enjoy her 1500 calorie lunches, so can everyone else.

Leave families alone, unless there is real abuse involved. Put more P.E. into their curriculum, and require that students need 4 phys ed credits to graduate from high school. Make the school day an hour longer if need be. The government has more important things to worry about, like our budget.
