Good Samaritans Face Fine After Rescuing Deer From Icy Water

http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2010/12/17/good-samaritans-face-fine-after-rescuing-deer-from-icy-water/

I have one simple question? If this were a person, would the authorities have said to let them drown? Of course not. If someone has the means to save a living being, why on earth would someone ticket them for trying to do the right thing? What has this world come to where we should sit and watch something drown right in front of our eyes? Shame on that natural resources police officer...these tickets should be thrown out with the courts apology...

The First Lady can't leave it parents to properly feed our children at school...

The First Lady said that it can't be left up to just the parents to provide healthy food for their children at school. Yes that's true to a point. But on the other hand, if I want a certain type of food fed to my children, I would send lunch with them.

You know as a mother of 5 children, I think I am perfectly capable of knowing what diet is proper for my children and what isn't. Anyone who has ever seen my kids will tell you they are very fit, and yes they eat happy meals. Why are they fit if they eat some junk food? It's about exercise. My kids are non stop energy machines. They play and run almost all day from the moment they wake up, until they go to sleep at night. Getting them to sit still through lessons is challenging because their metabolism is so high, that they need to move around between lessons. So since I home school, I can let them go outside for about 15 min between lessons and run around.

When I was a little kid we played on monkey bars, merry-go-rounds, tag, football, dodge-ball (my personal favorite), and actually had P.E. more than once a week. You very rarely saw really obese kids on the playground. We played hard all day, until I could hear my dad's booming voice coming down from my house, (those of you who know where my house is in relation to the park know what I'm talking about). Either that or we kept an eye out for the street lights to come on. Most of us played competitive sports, where they actually kept score, and yes we ate fast food. Not every day, but maybe once a week, or every other week.

Growing up I had to work twice as hard to stay slim. I had always thought I needed to be a little thinner all throughout high school. Looking back at my high school prom picture now, man I would kill to be that size again! When I enlisted in the Army I weighed 150 pounds with 18% body fat, and the Army said I need to weigh 141. So over the next 10 weeks, I literally ran my butt off and lost 14 pounds, and got down to 12% body fat. My battle buddy gained 14 pounds.

Why is this important? It goes to the First Lady's comment that the military says this is a national security threat. I wanted to be fit enough to serve. It was difficult. I worked hard to fit the standards, no matter how hard and painful it was. My battle buddy on the other hand spent a great deal of time complaining of how much work it was. How much her knees hurt affected our performance in training. It slowed us down and frustrated me to no end. Don't get me wrong, I love her dearly, but sorry honey this wasn't Girl Scouts, it's the military. The military is a great group of men and women who give their all, but it's primary mission is defense, and finding the bad guys and killing them, before they can kill us. If you don't want to do what it takes to stay in, don't join thinking you'll be able to work it off in Basic, or that they will make exceptions for you. If you're not going to give it your all, find another career field.

I am aware there are some crappy parents out there who could care less about their children, but you don't denigrate all the others by saying that caring for their children's diet shouldn't be left up to the parents when our kids are at school. Ever heard of a lunch box, or brown paper bags? If your kids eat breakfast before school, and take their own lunch from home, where is the problem? If on the happen-chance I don't send lunch with my kids that day, I'd like to know that they are eating something they enjoy. If you take away all the food kids like to eat, and also take away the activities necessary for them to stay fit...they are still going to gain weight because they are not going to want to eat what's provided if they don't want what's there. It's a waste of money. Their bodies will go into starvation mode, and store what little food they eat as fat. You might as well give them a a variety of foods, and increase their P.E. requirements, and leave the rest of us alone. I propose that P.E. be extended by an extra 30 min, and they should have it at least three days a week. That gives the teacher a little more time to organize the activities, and more time for the kids to actually be moving around.

I joked yesterday on the radio, that if I wanted to give my kids Ho Hos and Twinkies, that that was my priority. That government intervention (again) is not the answer. In response, the guy who was next right after me, said that my kids would probably die from diabetes by the time they were fifty. One, don't talk about my kids like that. If someone wants to criticize me on something they disagree with fine, but leave my kids alone. Two, I have family members with diabetes, and my oldest has Sickle Cell Disease. I am not careless about my families health, and to make a harsh comment about children is unacceptable. Thankfully the show's host defended me.

Yes you are going to have some that aren't responsible, that goes for any walk of life, and any profession. That doesn't mean that the government is the solution. Most times they are the problem...

The Pill and Breast Cancer...

So for years some doctors have been trying to get the word out that the birth control pill can cause cancer. And for years groups like Planned Parenthood, have tried to sweep it under the rug, because a great deal of their profits comes from the pushing of contraceptives. However, after it was discovered that smoking causes lung cancer, and that the HRT shots were causing breast cancer, why is it so hard to believe that taking a group one carcinogen every day for years on end probably starting as a teenager, has no likelihood of causing breast or cervical cancer? That is like saying smoking can't cause lung cancer because people like smoking. Or being an alcoholic can't cause liver damage. The fact of the matter is to keep this information from women is an egregious error that should be resolved. And before people assume I got this information from some pro-life website...I actually got this information from the American Cancer Society's website: http://www.cancer.org/Cancer/CervicalCancer/OverviewGuide/cervical-cancer-overview-what-causes

If more women knew that one of the causes of breast cancer is the pill, would they stop taking it, like women who got cancer after taking HRT did? Would the Susan G. Komen Foundation come out and suggest that women not rely on the pill, but rather their own bodies during fertility? Would they be open to that road knowing that it might save women from getting breast cancer? Who knows...they have a long history with Planned Parenthood, and PP will fight this discovery tooth and nail.

If there is such an obvious connection between hormonal contraceptives and cancer, how many more women and organizations will continue to deny the link? Tobacco companies are paying an enormous amount of money to families who family member died from lung cancer when the facts were hidden about the effects of the addictive nature of cigarettes. And many women have been payed for the damages caused by Hormone Replacement Therapy. Women deserve to know the truth about hormonal contraceptives, and I pray that they will heed the warning.

I'm fed up with this administration...

You know I try to be a pretty happy go lucky person. But recent comments from the left, and even our own President really have me pissed. I can put up with a lot of things, but to have the leadership of this great country call me the enemy is beyond insulting. I am an Army vet...I raised my hand to defend this country against all enemies, not made up ones. To tell me because I don't think the same way you do, that I am the enemy, or a domestic terrorist, or that I have an old attitude about families, goes beyond the offices these politicians hold.

This post is going to be short and to the point. I'd like to ask my family, friends, and colleagues who are Democrats to think about these few questions: One - When you hear the President tell Democrats, that Republicans don't care about their fellow man, and are the enemy, does my face ever flash across your mind? Two - Do you hear these comments and say to yourself, I believe this because President Obama says it? Three - Do you ever stop to think about those who are in your lives that might be a different political party than you, and how those words affect our lives? And four - If I were to run for political office, and someone smeared my name, or called me a bitch, or a whore, or a homophobe, would you defend my honor, or would you let it go and say nothing because I'm a Republican? I'm thinking of running for office one day, and I'd like to know where I stand with those closest to me. We can be different parties and disagree peacefully, or we can let partisanship tear this country to shreds and destroy ourselves from within, doing the real terrorists job for them.

What a bunch of hypocrites!!!

OK, so I was watching Hannity, and I saw a statement from NOW (National Organization for Women), in regards to a deplorable comment from Jerry Brown's campaign, when they thought the phone was disconnected from a previous call. Brown approved the possible use of calling Meg Whitman a whore.

What makes me ill is not only this despicable conversation about a women running for political office, but the lame response from the California branch of NOW:

"The abuse of employees, whether in the workplace or in the home, is not acceptable," Bellasalma said. "It's a pattern that's developing about how Meg Whitman treats people who she believes are beneath her. It's a cynical game of the Republican Party, putting up candidates who are anti-women to garner women votes superficially."

Let me get this straight: They are calling Meg Whitman anti-woman, even though, last time I checked she is a woman. Maybe it's because she's pro-life right? Nope...she's pro-abortion. So the only reason they can possibly have any thing negative to say about her is that she's a republican. Wow, what a bunch of confused, sad little people.

NOW is an obsolete organization that is neither respectable, or truly for defending equal treatment of women. They only want to defend those that are pro-abortion and have a 'D' after their name. Because you'd best believe that if that was a republican calling a democrat woman a whore, all hell would break loose, and there'd be rioting in the streets. This is a testament to the true hypocrisy of the left, and what they truly think of their fellow Americans...

Women can do it by themselves...

This is what was said by Jennifer Aniston recently, when speaking about motherhood. News flash Jen: being a mother is more than how you conceive. She had a husband who wanted children; she didn't want them. He left. Her career was first. Now she's at the point where she feels she has no other choice but to do it alone. Boo freakin' hoo...

I have five children that eagerly await seeing their father when he comes home from work. There's usually a tug of war battle between my 13 year old and her younger siblings on who can get to daddy first. It's usually my 3 year old who squeezes in-between the other 3 children and gets to daddy first and claims her prize. Ah...sweet victory for Sarah. The baby is usually last only because he is then a permanent fixture to Tony's lap for the next 30 minutes. This is a great part of the day. Not only is my life partner home and I can look at his handsome face, but a much needed break is sure to follow, as I sneak downstairs. But it wasn't always this cozy picture.

When Dena was a baby, I was a soldier, and a single mother. I worked my ass off to prove myself as a woman and single mother in today's Army. I'm all for women's empowerment. I could run and ruck just as well if not better than my male counterparts. I excelled at my job. I was an expert shooter. My commander once said that if he could choose any person to take to war with him, it would've been me. Yet all of this came at a price. My day started at 4am, and I had enough time to get on my PT uniform, grab my BDU's, my food for the day, get Dena dressed and hit the door by 4:30. I dropped her off by 5:15, and was in formation by 6am. I worked a 10 hour day (sometimes more), picked her up from daycare about 5:15, and home by 6:15 pm, if I was lucky to not fight traffic. That was my day Mon-Fri, and sometimes on the weekend if we had an alert. It was like that for 6 months until I moved on post. When she was 18 months old I was sent to Korea. While there I found out the head of my left femur had died and I needed a total hip replacement. There went my military career. Life was rough, and there were many times that I was very grateful to my father for being the role model my baby girl needed.

I am eternally grateful for my husband who stepped in and has been a constant in Dena's life since she was two. He is my rock, my best friend, and the father of all my children.

Being a mother or father is more than just biology. It's a lifetime commitment, full of blood, sweat, tears, pride, failure, and lots of time and devotion. It's giving of yourself when you have nothing left. It's late nights, early mornings, long days, and you telling yourself man if there were only 2 more hours in a day...

It's moments of self doubt, great triumph, and prayers that your children will turn into productive members of society. If you're a service member, police officer, or firefighter, the constant unknowing of whether you're coming home that day makes it even harder. If you're poor, or even middle class, you can multiply everything I just wrote above by 10. Our children need fathers. They need a loving environment, where a child can look into their parents loving eyes, and know that their mom or dad would walk through Hell in gasoline underwear to keep them safe. That we would give our lives in a heartbeat if it means they can survive. To denigrate that by saying, "women no longer have to “settle” for a man in order to start a family", is not conducive to what we need in society.

To my sisters and brothers who are raising children on your own, I commend you. To those who are married and raising children, I commend you. Both are hard endeavors, and I've been on both sides of the spectrum.

The rest of the world is NOT Hollywood, and this is not a damn movie where everything ends with roses and sunshine. I just wish those in Hollywood would just make a good movie, and stop trying to sound so much more knowledgeable than us "regular folks". But I guess when you have lots money, you can look at the world with such a narrow view in regards to parenthood.

Tea Party Caucus

OK...it's been a while since I've been on, and truth be told there was very little that I felt like talking about, I was busy mothering my children. So on July 21st, I was one of about 20 people who went to Capitol Hill to speak about the newly formed Tea Party Caucus. I was first introduced to Rep. Michele Bachmann, who breezed into her office carrying an infectious type of energy with her. She is spearheading this caucus for us to be able to truly reach our politicians. After meeting with her we went to another meeting room, where about 20 other Congressmen and Women, came to meet with us. They were all very receptive, and friendly, and a couple of them just loved playing with Damian. I'll try and get a list of attendees later...

We met with them for about 45 min, and then left for the presser that was set up near the steps of the Capitol. I was first to speak after Rep. Bachmann opened up the press conference. Let me just say: I've spoken on the radio many times, but that is nothing compared to getting up in front of the national news media, with about 30 video and still photo cameras, knowing that millions of people will see you speak. On a side note, I looked at my speech and realized that I looked angry...I was, but my facial expression was more of heat exhaustion...it was almost 90 degrees, and there was barely a breeze. And on top of that, I was holding Damian who was very busy trying to look at everyone. So hopefully next time, I won't look like I'm ready to punch someone! After speaking, Rep. Bachmann came up beside me to let others speak, and was blowing on Damian to help keep him cool, as was Rep. Louie Gohmert, who just loved playing with Damian. I've gotten criticism already in some media saying it was a staged photo op. One, I didn't bring my baby for a photo op. He's a nine month old who is still very clingy at this age. I am a mother who takes proper care of my children, and I wasn't going to leave him with someone who may or may not have been able to calm him down. Second, as I just stated a moment ago, Rep. Bachmann was blowing on his face to keep him cool, he liked that and reached for her face to try and give her a kiss, which is how this picture happened:

Photobucket

I have seen numerous reports that I was paid to be there, and those of you who know me, also knows I am very passionate about our country. I was not paid, I was invited by a friend, and I will continue to fight the good fight for the future of my children. I met some wonderful people there, and will be working hard to continue to get the people's voice heard. I look forward to meeting with them again next week, and look for more updates later...I hear my children arguing, so duty calls!
